Monkeypox Virus








The virus that causes monkeypox in humans and other animals is known as monkeypox. 

It is a member of the family Poxviridae and the genus Orthopoxvirus. Along with variola, cowpox, and vaccinia viruses, the monkeypox virus is one of the human orthopoxviruses.


Origin of monkeypox virus 

According to the genetic analysis, the virus was imported, most likely from the DRC, and did not originate in Sudan. In Central and West Africa, specifically, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, many more cases of monkeypox have been documented: 2000 cases per year are recorded between 2011 and 2014.


Symptoms of monkeypox virus

Lesions, fever, muscle aches, and chills are some of the signs of monkeypox, which is endemic in portions of Central and Western Africa. Only very seldom has it been fatal.


Indonesia's first case of monkeypox 

A 27-year-old man who recently returned from a trip abroad has been diagnosed with monkeypox, according to the health ministry of Indonesia. 

Last month, the World Health Organization declared the virus epidemic an emergency, a designation it only makes for illnesses of the highest priority.

Mohammad Syahril, a spokesman for the Indonesian health ministry, claimed that the patient had "great awareness and knowledge of the condition."

A week after arriving in Indonesia on August 8, the patient started to experience fever and rash symptoms.

The ministry representative declined to disclose the nation from which the individual had arrived in Indonesia. Singapore has confirmed more than a dozen instances elsewhere in Southeast Asia, while the Philippines and Thailand have also reported their first cases. 

There have been thousands of cases reported in the US. Although it is not a sexually transmitted disease, this outbreak of the virus differs from earlier ones in Africa in that it is primarily spread through close touch.
